While technology today is more readily available in urban communities, rural communities still face many barriers to entry, including basic access.  This workshop discusses the unique digital challenges facing rural communities today and how you can begin to bring your community into the 21st century.  Who are your community stakeholders?  What projects will create the biggest impact for the smallest investment?  How do you form the right partnerships for success? Best practices are discussed.

This workshop will focus on legislative goals and state initiatives in Washington surrounding equity in broadband access throughout the state.  At this workshop you will find out what local policy makers have slated for Washington, and how you can get involved.

 In today’s world, youth are becoming more and more familiar with technology. As a community, our goal is to guide and foster that knowledge into real world application and trade. This workshop will explore the options for youth in relation to technology and media. We will explore methods of teaching and engaging youth with technology, emerging occupations within technology, and creative youth media.

 This workshop explores community wireless networks, social networks, emerging software for agency support and more.  What are the new trends out there and how can your organization become a part of them.  Join us for a lively discussion with Derrick Hall, from the City of Seattle. 

 In collaboration with the City of Seattle and the Washington Communities Connect Network (CCN), One Economy would like to invite you to the 2009 Pacific Northwest Digital Inclusion Summit.  

Together we will explore what Digital Inclusion means in the 21st century, specifically during this time of unprecedented change in our nation’s history, and extreme economic conditions.

We will discuss ways of inspiring and engaging our nation’s youth in technology. We will ask ourselves what we can do to motivate our future workforce through technology.  

We will also discuss technology from a policy level and empower you to take civic action in your communities to make Digital Inclusion a top priority for your legislators and policy-makers.  

Our ultimate hope is that we will all learn from one another about the successes we’ve had and the obstacles we face in the future of Digital Inclusion in order to engender a sustainable social and political movement.
